Role of the Tribunal: The Ochapowace Community Tribunal is an independent body established under the laws of the Ochapowace Nation, including the Election Act (1999), to ensure fairness, accountability, and integrity in governance and election processes. The Tribunal is responsible for hearing election appeals, reviewing grievances, and addressing matters related to conduct and compliance within the Nation’s governance framework. It operates at arm’s length from Chief and Council and conducts its work in accordance with principles of procedural fairness. The Tribunal has the authority to assess evidence, hold hearings, and issue decisions, which are final and binding within its jurisdiction.
